About Rare Pro Woods

Rare Pro Wood Products

History / Company Overview

Rare Pro Woods is a vertically integrated forest product corporation in the oil and gas sector. One of America's biggest and reputable producers of hardwood flooring and Appalachian lumber since 2010.

HARRELSON HECTOR (CEO) the company's CEO, also an oil and gas expert dived into the lumber business and established Rare Pro Woods, guided its expansion from a 10-person operation on "the Hill" to over a 200-person organization that currently plays a significant role in the oil and gas industry. The company has evolved into the Rare Pro Woods that we know today thanks to Harrelson Hector’s innovative and persistent spirit. He further established himself as a leader in the oil and gas sector as a Senior Engineer/Oil Geologist and high-tech services industry leader. Rare Pro Woods has a history of growth and has been instrumental in expanding into new markets while advancing the hardwood industry in its entirety and setting the pace to a higher altitude.

In the hardwood industry, Rare Pro Woods is a privately owned company that has grown and overcome many milestones in her 10+ years of consistency and growth in the industry. In addition to serving as one of the biggest players in the lumber market, we also own and manage timberlands in vast areas. Because we are vertically integrated, we have complete control over the manufacturing process, allowing us to maximize the use of our natural resources while creating products of the highest caliber. That, in our book, is a significant Rare Pro Woods advantage.

Here's How We Do It

We work hard to be a different kind of company—one that does the right thing, because it’s the right thing to do. This applies not only to how we treat our environment, but to everything we do at Rare Pro Woods.

We are one of only a few major flooring manufacturers to own and manage our own timberland and to employ a full time forestry staff. They put together 100-year plans for the forest we own. We think it’s the right thing to do for the future of our company, our employees, and our families.

At Rare Pro Wood Products, we manufacture kiln-dried Appalachian red oak, white oak, ash, hickory, hard maple, soft maple, cherry, aromatic cedar, poplar, and basswood lumber. Our lumber comes from our own saw mill and saw mill partners within a 150 mile radius of our operations. Rare Pro Woods lumber is used in the manufacture of Rare Pro Woods residential hardwood flooring and is also sold to other lumber users in the United States and exported to select countries.

Our largest division turns the "flooring grades" of Appalachian hardwood lumber into fine "Made in the USA" solid and engineered residential flooring. We take great pride and satisfaction in the fact that our flooring is enjoyed in homes across North America. The sawdust generated in our manufacturing processes is used to provide heat and steam to fuel our operations, or goes to supply our wood pellet fuel facility.

The excess wood fiber and sawdust collected throughout the flooring manufacturing process supplies our state-of-the-art Wood Pellet Fuel division, where we produce premium grade clean-burning wood fuel pellets. Here, more than 50,000 tons of wood fiber and sawdust generated each year, instead of going to a landfill, goes to making an economical and environmentally-friendly alternative energy source. This, in turn, helps decrease our country’s dependence on fossil fuels. Rare Pro Woods brand pellets are sold across the U.S. through major pellet distributors and retailers for use in pellet stoves.

Rare Pro Woods Flooring

Rare Pro Woods is a major U.S. manufacturer of prefinished solid and engineered flooring in Appalachian species. You will find our brand in fine retailers across North America.

Our vertically-integrated advantage means that Rare Pro Wood Products supplies the kiln-dried lumber to our flooring division for the manufacture of Rare Pro Woods brand residential hardwood flooring. This gives us tremendous quality control over the final product. We currently offer over 150 skus of prefinished flooring in a complete line of species, styles, widths, and colors—giving homeowners a vast array of options to meet their personal tastes.

Rare Pro Woods Pellet Fuel

Rare Pro Woods is one of North America’s Highest Quality Manufacturers of Premium Wood Pellet Fuel. In support of our “Waste Not" philosophy and our commitment to the environment, we recognized an opportunity to turn our excess wood fiber and sawdust into a clean-burning, efficient, and economical biofuel product. We built a modern manufacturing facility that is fully automated and currently produces 50,000 bags of pellets per week. That’s more than 2,500,000 bags of pellets per year.

Now more than 50 tons of wood fiber and sawdust generated by our manufacturing processes—instead of ending up in a landfill—is converted into premium grade pellet fuel.

Rare Pro Woods brand pellets are sold across the U.S. through major pellet distributors and retailers for use in pellet appliances.

Our Facilities

Rare Pro Woods’s plants are strategically located in the Appalachian Mountain region of the United States. Some of the finest lumber in the world comes from this region. The lumber is considered superior because of the benefits inherent in the location and the land.

The climate is a main factor in producing the naturally superior quality—the area’s warm summers and cool spring and fall seasons ensure that the growth of the trees is gradual. Slower growing trees result in tight growth rings, consistent grains, and strong fibers that lead to strength, durability, and beauty. Rare Pro Woods’s corporate headquarters and manufacturing are located in Rare Pro Woods, FL, with lumber production facilities in Orlando, FL and Crossville, TN.

We work hard to be a different kind of company—one that does the right thing, because it’s the right thing to do.
